Lead Mechanical Engineer – Polishing Equipment Photonics

Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer who enjoys taking ownership of complex high-tech equipment development? For an innovative photonics application in Eindhoven, we are looking for a Senior / Lead Mechanical Engineer to take responsibility for the mechanical architecture and development of a new polishing machine.

You will play a key role from the early concept phase through to a fully integrated working prototype. Working closely with the customer, project management, and engineers within disciplines as mechatronics, motion, control, and optics, you will turn challenging technical requirements into robust mechanical solutions.

This is a role for an engineer who likes to take the lead, make technical decisions, and see their ideas become a functioning machine. You will own your complete mechanical work package and have the opportunity to make a real impact on a highly innovative photonics application.

What can you expect?

As Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the mechanical architecture and own the complete mechanical work package from concept through to prototype.

You will be the technical point of contact for your work package and ensure that design decisions, interfaces, and technical solutions are effectively implemented. You’ll work closely with the project manager and other internal stakeholders.

You are someone who takes ownership, stands behind your work package, and is capable of independently turning complex mechanical challenges into working solutions. You will work closely with the customer and travel to Asia several times a year for business trips.

Your responsibilities

  • Define and develop the mechanical architecture of the polishing machine.
  • Translate requirements into concrete mechanical concepts and solutions.
  • Design and develop the equipment from concept through to prototype.
  • Manage mechanical interfaces with other disciplines and subsystems.
  • Lead and provide technical guidance for the mechanical work package.
  • Make well-founded technical decisions and communicate them clearly to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineers from disciplines including mechatronics, motion, control, and optics.
  • Ensure successful integration and validation of the prototype.
  • Identify and resolve technical risks and bottlenecks.
  • Take responsibility for planning, quality, and technical progress within your work package.

What do we expect from you?

We are looking for an experienced mechanical engineer who is accustomed to developing complex equipment from the architectural level and taking ownership of the complete mechanical work package.

You bring:

  • A BSc or MSc degree, or equivalent level of education, in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Several years of experience in complex high-tech machine building and equipment development.
  • Experience defining mechanical architectures and system concepts.
  • Experience developing prototypes and integrating complete systems.
  • A strong technical foundation combined with a hands-on and pragmatic approach.
  • The ability to work independently and make technical decisions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with project management and other disciplines.
  • A strong sense of ownership and accountability for the result.

Why choose Nobleo?

You will work on a challenging high-tech application within the photonics industry, where mechanics, precision motion, and optical components come together. You will have a high degree of responsibility and are involved from the architectural phase through to the development and integration of a fully functional prototype of the complete machine.
